Regional Economic Development
Northern Virginia is akin to a well diversified investment portfolio, with a
nice mix of countervailing industries and a well balanced set of strategic
advantages within its four county region.
Nashville does live up to its billing as "Music City USA" in a study
released last week by the National Endowment for the Arts... A Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce study conducted by Patrick Raines, dean
of the College of Business Administration and an economics professor at
Belmont University showed that the Nashville music industry made a total
economic impact of $6.4 billion, including $2.64 billion of direct economic
impact and a $2.42 billion impact from music-related tourism.
Market Analysis
Sales within the Photographic Market declining due to a transition
away from traditional darkrooms which relay on timers and a shift to Digital
Photography...
A Strong Secondary Market diverting sales of NEW Products in
exchange for USED Products. Given the lack of innovation there is
necessarily no motivation to buy New. (Case Study: Innovation Cycle within
IPOD devices)
Optimization issues of Reach, Representation and Fit exist within the
Company X distributor network for key growth markets
Corporate Strategy
We think that automotive suppliers provide a model for positioning around
systems/solutions in an industry. Components, Integrated Systems,
Modules are often the positioning. For example, “Parker Means
Components, Systems, Partnerships That Work”... Build a primary
branding strategy around the company name, shifting to language such as,
"The Most Comprehensive Portfolio of Efficient XXX Systems, Components,
Solutions For The White Goods Industry". Your ECXX Technology
becomes the basis of a secondary message, where ECXX instead is used to
create a defensible position in the fact that its outperforms the
competition, 2 to 1.
Company X® becomes a primary brand. Shift
brand messaging towards core values of : Proven Service, Everyday
Reliability, Accurate and Trusted. Rethink how the brand
should be visually and consistently conveyed to the market. (i.e.
Company X® , Stylized Letters, New Logo)... Adopt a product neutral
brand strategy that will allow leveraging the well established Company
X brand name beyond its current product base; creating an entirely new
horizon of growth. Co-branding with other strategic manufacturers
similar to the “Arm and Hammer” case.
